Forty-five coconut palms and thorny sand dunes on the Wild East Coast – that was all we found here in the summer of 1991. Construction began in ‘92 with a store and a few simple rooms to accommodate guests.
Year after year Travellers Lodge has grown, combining beautiful local materials with the knowledge of local craftsmen and our own inspiration. The gardens have become a tropical forest with a unique collection of indigenous and exotic trees and over 100 palm species.
After almost 30 years of love, laughter and resilience, we are the oldest continuously running hotel in Bagamoyo. Guests feel at home in the peaceful atmosphere of Travellers Lodge Bagamoyo.
Cool, airy, secluded bungalows with spacious verandah ~ all en-suite with hot water and quiet air conditioner, fan, double beds and mosquito nets. Surrounded by abundant tropical gardens, the restaurant features famous Makonde carvings and an impressive palm-thatched roof with hardwood logs.
